You know you’re in A Great Relationship When…
by Ben Coleman
Holidays don’t make or break what the two of you have. This year started off rough. The truck broke down, the business I worked with closed shop and I didn’t feel like celebrating Valentine’s Day by putting out money we didn’t have for flowers, candy, and dinner. you’d think my girl would be upset with me. But the relationship we have is strong. It doesn’t fall apart because there aren’t any presents on Valentine’s Day.
I know I am lucky. I know I am with the right girl because as hard as it might seem I am not in the doghouse.
We said our I LOVE YOUs and promised to celebrate later.
What matters in a relationship is that you’re with somebody who loves you, and just wants to be with you.
It’s important to remember, that love isn’t holiday specific…. it’s something that is 24/7 365 days a year. It’s the little things and the hard days. It’s taking time to spend a lifetime. And yours to celebrate anyway the two of you want… With a smile, or presents, quietly or with fanfare.
It’s unimportant if you don’t have the money to buy those 100-dollar roses and that $50 heart-shaped box of chocolate… maybe all you need is your significant other. After all the holiday is something you can celebrate anytime, So, do something now, have fun with each other, share some laughs, and realize that just being with each other makes the occasion just right.
If I could give one word of advice…
Love is a verb, it’s an action word.
