NYS 1st Governor hated the Constitution

Clinton was a Revolutionary War general, a founding-era anti-federalist, and the original political operator in the Empire State. And not only was he elected governor, he held the office for 21 years total, that’s longer than FDR or even Mario Cuomo ever dreamed of. And just like in present day, he too had some scandalous side notes during his political career. Things such as he hated the Constitution. Literally. Clinton was a fierce anti-Federalist who thought a strong central government would kill state power (some 10th Amendment vibes, anyone?) He alo used political dirty tricks to keep rivals at bay. In fact, he once blocked Alexander Hamilton’s ally from becoming a U.S. Senator by refusing to call a legislative session. Petty? Strategic? You decide.

Clinton died in office as Vice President under James Madison. In fact, Clinton was the first VP to die while serving.

Now fast forward to today and we may soon have another first for NY if Rep. Elise Stefanik, a rising GOP star from the North Country, becomes the first female Republican Governor of NYS. She’s young, media-savvy, unapologetically MAGA, and could Clinton her way into New York’s, and America’s, future leadership.
