at the pump

Are You Really Getting What You Paid For at the Pump?

Every day, we pull up to the gas station, grumble about prices, and drive off, trusting we’re getting what we paid for. But what if we’re not? What if the gallon you’re buying isn’t really a gallon? What if the fuel in your tank isn’t even what it’s supposed to be?

In an upcoming investigation, I will be crisscrossing New York State, stopping at gas stations—unannounced—to uncover the truth. Are the pumps accurate? Do they measure up to the gallon they promise?

And it doesn’t stop there. I will be testing the gas itself. Is there water in your fuel, silently damaging your car? Could the levels of ethanol in your gas be higher than they should be, eating away at your engine and your wallet?

We’ve been told ethanol is better for the environment, but it’s also absorbing water, causing corrosion, and ruining fuel efficiency. Then there is the question of state inspections — are pumps being checked often enough, and are they passing the test?

This isn’t just about the numbers on the pump. It’s about protecting your money, your vehicle, and your trust.

I will be revealing the results from my first stop in just a few days. What I find might change the way you think about filling up your tank forever.

Stay tuned—it’s time to find out what’s really in your pump.
